Grein is easily accessible and explored by bicycle and lies directly on the Danube Cycle Path (EuroVelo 6). This historic town on the Danube is a popular stop for cyclists and offers a well-developed, flat cycling infrastructure along the river. The town center, the riverbanks, and attractions such as Greinburg Castle, the Grein town wall, and the historic town theater are all easily reached from the cycle path. Rest areas, restaurants, and cyclist-friendly businesses make Grein an attractive destination for day trips as well as longer cycling tours along the Danube.

Ardagger Markt is picturesquely situated on the Danube and is a charming, historic town on the Danube Cycle Path. The town captivates visitors with its well-preserved historic center featuring traditional houses, a beautiful parish church, and its proximity to the water. The surrounding area is characterized by rolling hills, orchards, and views of the Danube Valley. For cyclists, Ardagger Markt offers a pleasant blend of cultural flair, regional hospitality, and tranquil scenery – an ideal place for a break or an exploration of its narrow streets.

The town boasts a picturesque, historic town square lined with 16th- and 17th-century houses featuring Baroque facades. The entire place exudes a nostalgic, tranquil charm.

Booking a guided tour here is definitely worthwhile. A room entirely covered in mosaics made of Danube pebbles or the diamond vault are truly impressive. That alone is worth it.

The cannon roundabout of Pöggstall Castle was built around 1530 as an outlying defensive structure and served to defend the castle. The round fortress tower, with its mighty walls and loopholes, was part of the former moated castle complex. Today, the roundabout is considered one of the most impressive late medieval defensive structures in Lower Austria.
