Beautiful spot with a view of the church

The church is dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption (Maria SS. Assunta) and dates back to the first half of the 14th century, when King Frederick III of Aragon stayed in Erice during the War of the Vespers (1314) against the Anjou of Naples.

It's simply wonderful to jog here at sunrise.

The hiking trail to Bonagio has reopened. It now runs alongside the old city walls.

It is worth just stopping and taking in the tranquility of the place. Erice is more than just an old town - it is a place where you can feel history while breathing in the fresh air of the Sicilian mountains.
