To explain the name of this small town, it is said that thirteen young women once settled on the nearby islet of Isola delle Femmine, chased away by their relatives for their grave sins. They lived there for seven long years, until their relatives forgave them. The SS187 is a winding state road that winds from Castellammare del Golfo towards Belvedere and then on to San Vito lo Capo. The climb offers fantastic views of the bay and the expansive sea – especially in the early morning hours or just before sunset. Tip: The route is very popular with road cyclists – it's a steady climb with good asphalt and little traffic during the off-season. Those who take a break at Belvedere will be rewarded with one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the west coast of Sicily. Be sure to have your camera ready!

Spectacular views of Castellammare del Golfo and the entire coastline! Ideal as a stopover on a road bike tour along the SP63 or SP187. The climb is short but challenging – about 2km with a gradient of approximately 6–8%, but you'll be rewarded with a truly postcard-perfect view. Tip: It's best to start in the morning or late afternoon – the light is at its best and there's less traffic. Perfect for a quick drink and a photo break – there's plenty of room to stop safely. Caution: No shade and no water source – refill beforehand! The road surface is good, but watch out for loose stones on the descent.
