Varenna is the hub for ferries on Lake Como. Taking bicycles is no problem, but the seating directly at the loading ramp takes some getting used to. Prices are moderate, e.g.: Varenna-Belaggio 🧍🏻♂️+🚲=€5.60.

Although the tour includes some sections on the usually busy coupe d'état from Menaggio to the northern end of the lake, these are only short. The vast majority of the route runs along the former coupe d'état, which has now either been converted into a cycle path or is only used by local traffic.
