Unfortunately closed at the moment, looks very dilapidated. But a very nice little town on the lake!

In 2014 the monument in memory of the fallen of the 325th FIGHTER GROUP - II World War was inaugurated.

The era of the foundation of this fortress is uncertain; it is thought to be even prior to the construction of Apricena, therefore the second half of the 9th century. Already flourishing in the 11th century under the lordship of the Norman Count Enrico, it then passed from Rainulfo Drengot, duke of Aversa, to Ruggero, lord of Rignano, following a long and bitter war.

Located on a spur of the Gargano at an altitude of 545 metres, south-west of the Gargano promontory in the municipality of Apricena, the castle, of which few ruins remain, was part of a village whose origin is uncertain.

It was born as a tourist resort linked to the municipality of Lesina. Marina di Lesina is located within the Gargano National Park. Here is Lake Lesina, separated from the sea by a strip of land known as Bosco Isola. From Marina di Lesina you can reach the Tremiti Islands.

Wide road with soft sand that runs alongside Lake Lesina. Easily passable.
