The castle has six towers, a moat and today houses a civic museum with archaeological finds from Fiorentino, the place where Frederick II of Swabia died.

It looks very tempting to ride this route suggested for gravel bikes. Do not do it! The sand is often too deep to ride with 40mm tires. Only suitable for mountain bikes with wide tires.

Lake Lesina is a brackish lake basin located in the north of Puglia, between the Tavoliere delle Puglie and the Gargano promontory. About 22 km long and 2.4 km wide on average, it has an area of 51.4 km². It is the 9th Italian lake and the second in southern Italy.

Very pleasant route NOT to do with Gravel, only MTB and preferably with CROSS tires, to avoid sinking into the sand. Well trained legs !! best times Spring & Autumn.

The route with a Gravel is strongly discouraged. 2.3 x 29" cross tires (instead of 26") Nice route in spring and autumn. The vegetation has increased with good protected areas. Fitting with water 🍶🍶

On January 30, 1710, the scientist and alchemist Raimondo di Sangro was born in the Castle. It currently houses the Civic Museum and houses the works of the local sculptor Giacomo Negri (1900-1973).
