6月 11, 2025, Ponte Romano di Codiponte
Roman Bridge, on the Via del Volto Santo, over the Aulella torrent Its main feature is that along the entire length of the bridge there are 3 humps like a donkey's back. A Romanesque bridge, it was for centuries the most important access to the town and to the "Via di Reggio". The structure, with three arches and a flat back, preserves in the center the aedicule with a majesty, a common feature of many medieval bridges with a clear meaning of protection from floods and for the devotion of those who passed through it.

The parish church of Codiponte of Saints Cornelio and Cipriano is among the most fascinating and artistically rich in the territory of the ancient Diocese of Luni. With its figurative capitals and its artistic masterpieces, it is a true paradigm of the Lunigiana Romanesque. The parish church stands on the right bank of the Aulella, near a bridge beyond which, in the distance, you can see the ruins of the 11th-century Bianchi d'Erberia castle. The church has a basilica plan with three naves with columns and round arches and perfectly preserved notched cubic capitals, which bear figures typical of the medieval image system: the tree of life, lily, six-petalled daisy, serpent with feet, two-tailed mermaid and many others. The late medieval triptych with the Virgin on the throne, the SS. Cornelius and Cyprian, the church's patron saints, and the image of the Holy Face, a famous and venerated Lucchese relic, which recalls the passage of the Via del Volto Santo in these very places.

6月 11, 2025, View of Codiponte and Bell Tower
The upper part of the town is fortified and preserves the ruins of a castle: hidden by the vegetation are the beautiful forms of a medieval palace, with a loggia at the base and a certain development in height, perhaps dating back to the 14th-15th century, which indicate a more residential than military function. Other ruins scattered in this upper part of the hill suggest the presence of a previous defensive fortification and control of the road system and which must have also included a small church. Beyond a natural valley, on the plateau that extends over the hill to the north, the remains of the ancient convent of the Franciscan nuns, already existing in the 15th century and which was suppressed in the second half of the 18th century. The ruins of the castle can be accessed from the lower village by crossing the Romanesque bridge

6月 11, 2025, Luscignano Village
Characteristic village of the upper Aulella valley, nestled along the crest of a rocky spur, the town still today winds along an axis that has at its center the baroque church (17th century), dedicated to San Martino, with a singular façade. On the sides of the monument, two pedestrian streets with a slight difference in level run between tightly packed stone houses, softened by arches and portals. Farmyards, terraces and open spaces open the view onto a lush nature.

6月 11, 2025, Fortezza della Verrucola
In the center of the village, the Malaspina castle stands out in all its grandeur: towers of different sizes, shapes and heights joined to the central palace form a whole where the military function coexists with the residential one. Low houses outline a sort of wall on the perimeter of that “verrucula” (small wart) that rises between the Mommio stream and the Collegnago canal; a real dive into the Middle Ages. Verrucola was embellished by the sculptor and painter Pietro Cascella with some works, especially fountains, placed to decorate the town at the end of a skillful restoration.

6月 6, 2025, Ponte della Cresa
The Ponte della Cresa is a stone bridge built in the 14th century and despite the frequent flooding of the Verde river, it has maintained its original structure to this day. The bridge connects the new neighborhoods with the historic center. The bridge is located along the Verde river near Porta San Francesco. Under the arch of this bridge, on January 31, the characteristic fire of San Geminiano takes place. The Ponte della Cresa is considered by many to be the true symbol of the city of Pontremoli. It is also interesting to note that the name Pontremoli derives from the Latin 'Pons Tremulus', which means 'unsafe bridge'. This was a term used to describe the original conurbation of the city.

11月 19, 2024, Pieve di Santo Stefano di Sorano
The Pieve di Santo Stefano di Sorano is one of the most important Romanesque churches in the province of Massa-Carrara, located in Filattiera. The church was built between the 11th and 12th centuries and is an example of impressive Romanesque architecture with its imposing three-apse layout and the use of rough stones from the river Magra. The church stands at a strategic point along the Via Francigena, a historic pilgrimage route to Rome. The area has a rich history dating back to Roman times and the Byzantine period3.

Canepari is a small village near Ponzanello, in the Fosdinovo area. The village was founded at the end of the 17th century by farmers from Ponzanello, Carignano and also from Chiavari and France. The name “Canepari” comes from the hemp cultivation that was carried out in this area, thanks to the abundance of water. In Canepari there is the modern church of Santa Maria Ausiliarice.
