Near the end of the Iso-Palonen hiking trail, you'll find the Tammapuro Lean-to Shelter beside the picturesque Tammapuro stream. This serene spot is perfect for a restful break, allowing you to listen to the calming sounds of the stream. It's also an excellent location for fishing enthusiasts, with opportunities to catch various fish species in the adjacent lake.

This picnic area is a great opportunity to get up close and personal on the shores of Lake Iso-Palonen. While the fate of the picnic area hangs in the balance the view of the lake is worth a short detour from the main trail all the same.

The Saunaniemi shelter is located on the peaceful shores of Veräinen Lake. Surrounded by tranquil forests and the calming sound of water, this cozy spot is perfect for resting a while during your hike. Warm up by a fire or simply take in the serene views of the lake from the shelter or sat on the beach.

The idyllic Petkeljärvi National Park is located in Ilomantsi – the most eastern community of Finland, close to the Russian border.
