This church is dedicated to the Archangel Michael, "San Michele." The name (derived from Hebrew) means "Who is like God?" He is often depicted—in paintings or as a statue—with a flaming sword, and occasionally a lance. Michael, along with Raphael, Gabriel (and, according to some accounts, Uriel), is one of the three or four archangels who, according to our human understanding, hold the highest rank in the heavenly hierarchy of angelic beings. Their feast day in the liturgical calendar is September 29th.

I confirm the path seems closed. Thankfully, there is a small path on the side. A bit dangerous but possible to cross.

I passed through on my gravel bike; there's a passage, but it's very narrow. If there's a couple of you and you don't have an e-bike, the passage is doable with limited risk.

The Adriatic Cycle Route runs along the coast, passing the edge of the Santo Stefano pine forest. Not far away is the mouth of the Sinello River, which flows into the Adriatic.

There's a landslide on the trail, and you'll have to take a 50-meter detour onto a path that's narrow and steep both up and down! With a little caution, you can do it anyway!

No equipment required. Enjoying the view is a must.

It's imperative to stay on the road; bikes you can't carry are out of bounds. The barriers were set to the side, so there were no clear signs. Then I returned to the SS16.
