Of the 9 city gates that existed in the city wall at that time, the Friesachertor and the Gissübltor have survived to this day. The Friesachertor is located on the exit road from the Rindermarkt to the east. Above the gate passage, a tower has been built that is almost square in plan and has a wooden staircase with a battlement on the west side and only two loopholes on the east side. Since 1960, the Friesachertor has been the clubhouse of the Murau Citizens' Guard and also the home of the Murau Samson.
