St. John's Church is the main church of Saalfeld in southeastern Thuringia. It is one of the most important church buildings in Thuringia. The largest hall church in the state, it stands on a hill overlooking the Saale River in Saalfeld's old town, very close to the market square. Its two 64-meter-high towers are visible from afar. After a Romanesque predecessor burned down in 1314, the present Gothic St. John's Church was built between 1380 and 1514. The nave vaults were added between 1449 and 1456; the chancel vault is dated 1514 by inscription. Source: Wikipedia

A beautifully restored castle complex, towering high above the town. Unfortunately, it's not accessible.

The banks of the Saale near Remschütz offer idyllic spots right by the water and invite you to take a relaxing break. A lovely place to take a break during a hike or bike ride. There is also a cosy artist café nearby.
