The Spinazzola bauxite quarry is a deposit found in Puglia in 1935 by the surveyor Luca Nanna and the accountant Paolo Cappiello, during their excursion in the Murgia area. The field was used from the 1950s until the end of the 1970s for the extraction of bauxite, a mineral made up of iron and aluminum oxides and hydroxides, useful for processing alumina which then leads to the final product, aluminum real.

Today only the small church, not far from the castle, remains of the ancient village, dedicated to the Madonna.
