A striking point in town

Scalea is a medieval village located on a terraced hill a few minutes from the sea. Its historic center is a labyrinth of stairways, alleys, arches and ancient buildings, where it is possible to visit the Norman Castle, the Basilian churches with Byzantine frescoes, the Palazzo dei Principi Spinelli and the Talao Tower, symbol of the city.

The Ficara waterfall is part of the Valle del Fiume Argentino nature reserve, and is fed by the water brought from the Ficara canal. In this area there are various animals, including roe deer, wild boars, foxes and hares.

Cycle path that goes from Tortora marina to Praia a Mare, all along the beach

The Tower of Fiuzzi is located on a rock in front of the Dino Island, it was built during the 15th-16th century to defend the area from probable Turkish incursions which represented a serious danger for the citizens of the town of Praia a Mare.

Suggestive waterfall along the Argentino river. it is accessed from the main road with a wooden bridge. Well signposted.

When the weather is nice, it is certainly a well-visited and wonderful place. I had strong winds from the side mixed with rain showers... everything looked very deserted.
