Polizzi Generosa is a charming medieval village perched on the slopes of the Madonie Mountains, known for its Arab-Norman origins and rich historical heritage. Strolling through its narrow stone streets, you can admire ancient churches, Renaissance palaces, and splendid views of the Imera Valley and the distant sea.

The Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Alto, located at 1,819 meters on Monte Alto, is one of the highest Marian shrines in Italy and offers a sweeping view of Sicily. On clear days, it is said that from here you can see much of the island, all the way to Mount Etna, and sometimes even the sea.

"This charming medieval village is located on the southern slope of the Madonie, a mountain range that offers breathtaking landscapes and a rich history. With its 2,920 inhabitants, Petralia Soprana is the highest municipality of the Madonie and one of the highest in the whole of Sicily. The town is included in the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy and was proclaimed "Borgo dei borghi 2018"."

The town is located on a slope between 900 and 1,100 meters above sea level, surrounded by extensive forests of broadleaf and coniferous trees. The municipal territory extends mainly in latitude, from the Madonie watershed in the north to the province of Caltanissetta in the south.

"The Madonie Park is a protected natural area that extends for about 400 square kilometers in the central-northern area of Sicily. This true oasis immersed in greenery preserves specimens of particular fauna and flora and numerous tree species that grow only in this territory. Located on the north-west side of the island, the park was created in 1988 to protect the variety of fauna and vegetation, which collects in an exemplary manner the typical features present on the island".
