Definitely a highlight of my circuit! A wonderful vantage point not only because of its elevation, but also because of the stylishly designed memorial site for the excavated villages and the memorial to the closed open-cast mines. There's also a small rest hut for a break. So don't miss this place!

From the observation tower it is only about 80m away via a staircase.

The Barbara Canal (overpass 9) is an artificially created navigable waterway in the northern Saxon municipality of Elsterheide. The canal lies between Lake Geierswalde and Lake Partwitz near Geierswalde. It is an artificially created canal in the Lusatian Lake District and connects two lakes formed by former open-cast lignite mines.

Lake Senftenberg is the family lake in the Lusatian Lake District. Seven kilometers of well-maintained sandy beaches and green lawns – with special areas for nudists and dog owners.

The natural monument covers 3 hectares. The bizarre two- to three-meter-high sandstone cliffs made of hardened glass sand provide an ideal picnic spot. They are reminiscent of the rock formations in Saxon Switzerland. The fine quartz sand has been mined in the area since the 19th century and used to produce colorless glass.
