The Lower Chapel is located at 440m. This chapel was built in 1854. The rectangular chapel with a round arched apse dates from 1856. Further construction details include a stone wall portal with a barred skylight and a Madonna relief marked 1865. In the barrel-vaulted interior there is a wood-clad altar niche with an altarpiece Pietà from 1856 as well as votive pictures and statuettes from the end of the 19th / beginning of the 20th century. An artist I do not know creates wood carvings with a chainsaw again and again. Currently bears and owls.

03/04/2023 - The ascent partly on the Bußweg is exhausting but worth the effort. Some sins can be worked off. I chose the circular route to the upper chapel, but the length was 6.54 km. Personally, I find the paths through the forest very beautiful here, with a view of Waidhofen from the top.

On nice days there is a view as far as the Ötscher (hence its name) and it is just below the upper Buchenberg chapel from the Bußweg.

The biotope is ideal for relaxing, since it is a bit far from the beaten track and is still relatively easy to reach.

The prayer garden is definitely worth a detour in spring/summer
