Helmet, helmet, helmet! ;) I saw and heard the ibex and their accompanying Rolling Stones. On the Völlerinsteig trail and others on the Hohe Wand... a helmet is worth it, no matter how difficult the climb or trail is. Apparently, ibex can always be "lurking," especially during the week when there are more of them than people.

It's also quite manageable on the descent, especially if you're already familiar with the route from the ascent. In winter, the gully can be icy, making crampons highly advisable. However, the sections further down might be ice-free if you're lucky, as they're more exposed to the sun or something like that, I suppose. Anyway, it worked out quite well on January 20, 2026 ;).

The Wilhelm-Eichert-Hütte enjoys a scenic location on the ridge above Weidlingbach and is a popular stop in the Eichenhain Nature Park. After the climb, you can rest in the garden or on the terrace and enjoy the view over the Vienna Woods hills and valleys. It's an ideal destination or stopover for hikers, runners, and bikers.

A wonderful route on the Big Wall, often underestimated. If you take your time and enjoy it, nothing can go wrong. For dog owners: only recommended if you can carry your dog over a ladder about three meters high and your dog can bear it.

Easy enough for children to reach, but challenging enough to make the climb interesting.

The "Great Pulpit" on the Hohe Wand is an absolute highlight and a must for every visitor. It offers a breathtaking view and is a popular meeting place for hikers, climbers and nature lovers. The imposing summit cross towers over the landscape and gives the place a special atmosphere - particularly impressive with dark clouds in the background. Various routes lead up, including the Springlessteig and the Wagnersteig. Whether for a well-deserved rest, a good meal on the sunny terrace or just to unwind - you should take your time up here to enjoy the view to the fullest.

The Hohe Wand Nature Park offers a spectacular viewing terrace with the Skywalk, which was built directly into the rock and gives visitors the feeling of floating over the abyss. The view stretches far across the Vienna Alps to Lake Neusiedl. Secured by iron bars, the platform is an impressive experience - but not for people with a fear of heights. The nature park is open all year round and, in addition to the Skywalk, offers numerous hiking trails, climbing routes, playgrounds and even a zoo, making it ideal for family outings. The atmosphere here is particularly unique early in the morning or at sunrise.

A beautiful via ferrata that always requires a bit of strength! Rope is available wherever it is needed 👌 There are many different paths/trails for the descent.
