It's worth taking a break here! The homemade potato salad is legendary!

A beautifully located campsite. The huge "tent meadow" is located directly on the riverbank and has unlimited pitches. It's a great overnight spot for bike tours. There's a restaurant next to the registration desk. The restroom facilities are decent. A shower token provides water for about 7-10 minutes for €1. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

From here you can go to the old town and to Baron Münchhausen.

The Münchhausen Fountain with the Half Horse was inaugurated in Bodenwerder in 1962/63. The fountain in the park of the Münchhausen estate was created by Bruno Schmitz to mark the 675th anniversary and is made of Weser sandstone. The horse and its rider, Münchhausen, are made of bronze. It depicts an anecdote from the Turkish War, when Münchhausen had his "half" Lithuanian watered at the market fountain in Oczakow. Here's a brief insight into the story: Münchhausen was riding his horse through the enemy fortress gate when the gate suddenly fell, splitting the horse in half. Münchhausen then rode the front part to the market fountain and had it watered there. When he wanted to pat the horse, he noticed that the rear part was missing. The water the horse drank flowed out the back. The sculpture of the half horse's hindquarters can be found at the steamer pier on the Weser promenade.

From the Weser riverside path you have a great view of Bodenwerder and the mountains of the Weserbergland.
