A truly wonderful and airy place!

One of the many lochans one encounters on Skye. While it lacks the drama of the ones higher up, it offers sweeping views across the bay and the surrounding islands - all the more enjoyable due to the solid trail that leads past it.

Roped up for the last section - as a hiker more than climber, very glad we had a guide.

Great campsite by the sea with great hiking opportunities. It is in the middle of the wilderness. That's why there is no cell phone reception ;)

It is a very rocky affair. And sometimes it is also slippery. I would recommend ankle-high hiking boots to prevent injuries from falling rocks.

Incredible waterfall, outstanding place to visit

Climbed this superb hill yesterday, taking a chance by climbing up through hill fog. I was rewarded with a stunning inversion with only the Cuillin standing above a White sea of cloud. It was truly beautiful and something I will remember for the rest of my days.

The UK's highest island peak, at 3,255 feet (992 m), is also one of Scotland's most spectacular. Not named for its visible features like most mountains, Sgùrr Alasdair is named after the Cuillin climbing pioneer Alexander Nicholson, who first summited the peak in 1873. The irony is that, despite lording it over the other peaks in terms of height, Sgùrr Alasdair is actually set slightly to the side of the main Cuillin Ridge.

Really tough hike! Only possible for experienced mountaineers / climbers! It gets steeper and steeper and from point 2 you really have to climb. The weather wasn't bad (cloudy, no rain) but the wind was extreme! If the weather had been good, some of us might have made it to the top, so it wasn't possible.

A black sand, volcanic beach at the foot of the Cuillin Hills, and on the edge of Loch Brittle. The beach is best visited at low tide, where the mellow sands really open up. There is a café and camp-site located extremely close.

A wild feeling high loch that sits on the slightly flatter land between the Cuillin mountains and the sea. The trail that walks along its northern shore is rough and rocky, but perfectly usable and allows a nice loop from the campsite.

Eas Mor flows in a single 230 ft (70 m) drop off the cliffs into the gorge below. The easiest viewing point is from the other side of the gorge where most of the highlight photos are taken from. It is possible to walk up the gorge from further downstream to reach the base of the waterfall but it's quite overgrown and a bit of a scramble.

This little lochan sits in a rocky depression high up in the corrie. It's reached after a steeper section of almost scrambling but well worth the extra ascent to get here. The views are amazing! You can carry on up the scree behind onto the Cuillin Ridge or drop back down and run a brilliant loop around the valley.

The Glenbrittle Campsite is a brilliant base for adventures in this part of Skye. If you fancy a climb or a walk it's perfectly situated for access to the Cuillin Ridge, while the easier terrain of Coire Lagan and the Fairy Pools are not far away. The campsite is clean and basic with glorious views up to the mountains and out to sea. The cafe serves good coffee and food and the shop sells snacks and supplies as well as camping essentials. Open April to September.
