Pretty much the whole way along this footpath, you'll be experiencing magnificent views across the Kyles of Bute toward the mountainous landscape of the Isle of Bute.

A winding gravel track leads you to Tighnabruaich Reservoir, where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of a freshwater lake nestled in the Scottish Highlands.

Follow the Shore Road back to the boat yard. We dropped onto the beach here for a bit of variety and a paddle. We were lucky enough to see a pod of porpoise feeding at the red buoy on the turning tide ❤️🐬

There are fallen trees here that has really opened up the view, which is stunning. You can see the Bute Ferry toing and froing. I was so distracted by the view that I missed the little green markers showing the turning. Make sure you don't miss them. The path then heads off through pleasant woodland before joining a track.

The path climbs steeply and appears to be an ant superhighway so watch where you walk! Continue past the turning for Hill Cottage. The pond is just round the bend. I have to say I was a bit disappointed by the lily pond. Perhaps you've got to see it in flower to appreciate it! However the anthill were HUGE! Bramble posing for perspective. Turn back to the junction for Hill Cottage and follow this path

The harbour is more of a sheltered cove with a tiny lighthouse. Its not a quayside or pier. But is is very pretty. Must have been stunning when the castle was here. You can continue along the road here if you like. Sadly the "island" jutting out is private and there are some houses ahead. We followed the sign heading up to the lily pond
