The coast of Punta Pizzo is a protected natural area south of Gallipoli. It is characterized by a rocky and jagged coast, with small inlets and caves, and the sea is of an intense and clear blue, rich in marine fauna and flora. The tip of the promontory can only be reached by foot or bicycle paths, where there is also a sixteenth-century coastal defensive tower.

The tower of Torre Suda was an integral part of this articulated defensive system, it certainly contributed to ensuring a greater level of control of the coast and, therefore, of security for the hinterland. From the dialectal name "Spunderati", belonging to the network of the Marina di Ugento basins, the latter connected by canals around the coastal strip between the marinas of Lido Marini, Torre Mozza and Torre San Giovanni. Near the area there is vegetation typical of marshy and brackish environments, as well as sedentary and migratory fauna (mallards, teals, gray herons). The cycling links created are beautiful and very wide and safe.
