On a sunny Saturday afternoon in July (the first day of vacation), we were the only people here. But the water was teeming with life! It's a wonderful spot; I almost don't want to recommend it, so it stays this beautiful forever 🤩 The circular path is natural but well-maintained.

The grounds, with their large garden, picnic area, demonstration biotope, and interactive stations, are barrier-free and accessible to visitors at all times. There's so much to learn thanks to the numerous information panels, and it's blooming, croaking, and buzzing like crazy now in July. Thanks to ample parking and its wheelchair and mobility-impaired accessibility, it's also ideal for a nature visit with seniors.

The Warendorfer Davert is a valuable forest area south of Münster and part of the larger Davert landscape. It is characterized by its diverse flora and fauna and comprises the largest contiguous forest area in the region. The Davert is home to old oak, hornbeam and European white elm stands that provide a habitat for numerous endangered species, including over 100 breeding pairs of the middle spotted woodpecker. The forest has been partially protected thanks to donations and public funds in order to develop into a near-natural “primeval forest of tomorrow”.

The first documented references to Haus Heidhorn date back to 1235, when the knight Themo de Berle sold a piece of forest belonging to the estate to the monastery of St. Aegidii. A short time later, Haus Heidhorn finally became the property of this monastery. There is at least evidence of feudal levies from Sankt Aegidii up until 1795. In the years that followed, the residents of Haus Heidhorn apparently suffered repeatedly from marauding mercenaries from Spanish, Dutch and Prussian troops. In 1812, the estate became French after being occupied by Napoleonic troops. In 1844, the Münster merchant Josef Hötte bought the Haus Heidhorn estate. With a moderate speed and in dry conditions, it was easy to ride even with a fully packed Gravel/MTB :)

A beautifully laid out one Natural garden with lots of interesting information about our local animal 🐾🐦🐸 and flora 🌷🌳🌾 (marked with name tags). Very interesting for big and small. 🧍‍♀️👨‍🦯👩‍🦯

In the vegetable garden of the "NABU-Naturschutzstation Münsterland e.V." there are herbs, wild flowers, hollyhocks, corn and and and..... Great layout and you can find signs in the beds of what's growing there!
