The Last Bear in Westphalia In 1446, the last bear in Westphalia was "killed" near the Dernebockholt farm. It was driven to Münster Town Hall with a whistle and a sigh, harnessed to seven pages (horses). "And if they hadn't killed it, they would have killed all the people." This is what the red book of the Münster City Archives says. Albersloh Local History Society e.V.

The paved stretches on the canal are just awesome, driving here is really fun, like on a motorway, and with a bit of luck you can watch the ships go by. Of course there is enough space for everyone here, but you should still be considerate.

At some point we found the Dortmund-Ems Canal boring and switched to the Ems cycle path north of Münster. Anyone who wants to do "kilometers" is in good hands here.
