The name "North Sea port of Haithabu" arouses interest in the historical significance of Hollingstedt in the Middle Ages and during the Viking Age. The excavation results of the State Archaeological Office are permanently exhibited and explained in the "Hollinghuus" museum. The additional circular route "Around Hollinghuus", which is equipped with ten information boards, explains important points in the landscape of Hollingstedt.

A nice stopover for a chat. A place of education since 1876. A historic village school classroom. Many exhibits from the village community's learning environment.

A small museum showcasing the village's educational heritage. A historic schoolroom! The house, dating from 1876, is located just a few meters from Hollinghus. Open Saturdays or by appointment. A fascinating glimpse into village life during the Kaiser's reign. A classic, stately building constructed of yellow brick. The teacher's living room features a polyphonic record player. An entertaining stop. Admission is by donation, and coffee is available.

Really idyllic 🤩 But be careful, don't drive past. After about 150 m you reach the most beautiful spot on a footpath.

The small museum can be opened with a push button during opening hours (photo). Here you can learn a lot about the finds at the "North Sea port of Haitabu and Schleswig" in the Middle Ages, shipbuilding and transport technology. There are also information boards on the same topic at the rest area opposite the church and on Lahmenstraat at the "Apfelschiff" organic fruit farm. There, a very successful transparent board offers a "view" of the old Viking houses in the current landscape.

Through a small grove that provides shade in summer and otherwise protects against the wind. Plan cleverly on hot / windy days! :-)

Much quieter than on the main road and a great alternative. Even though the asphalt has often been repaired, it's easy to roll through the green here!
