According to a document dated June 28, 1507, the then Auxiliary Bishop of Cologne, Dietrich Wichwael, consecrated a chapel in Weiden on May 17, 1507, in honor of the Almighty God and his saints: the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Anne, her mother, the holy martyr Sebastianus, and Saint Anthony the Abbot, as stated in the document. Sebastianus Vette, then the Kürten clergyman and a great admirer of Saint Anne, was the initiator of the chapel's construction. Vette founded a St. Anne's brotherhood after returning from a pilgrimage to Düren. The chapel was built on donated land with the chapel's own resources. In 1708, the chapel was renovated for the first time at the instigation of Wilhelmus Breidenbach, the then Kürten pastor, as an inscription above the portal attests. After the chapel was destroyed by a major fire in 1842, it was rebuilt and rededicated by Pastor Tuchscherer on June 16, 1845. Further renovations followed in the 20th century. Four new windows were installed in 1904, and the roof was re-tiled in 1912. The chapel was damaged by a bombing raid on Weiden on February 10, 1945. In 1947, the interior was redesigned. The new furnishings included an altar, a communion rail, kneelers, windows, and lamps. In 2007, the chapel underwent another extensive renovation to mark its 500th anniversary. Among other things, the masonry was restored and two new windows were installed.

Very good food for reasonable

This beautiful half-timbered house was first mentioned in 1626 and has been a family-run inn for over 350 years 👍 It is a very good restaurant. We stopped here after a hike and had a delicious meal. The price-performance ratio is good. There is good and fresh food, the service is nice.
