The correct name would be "Hardtwald". The Homburg municipal forest extends up to the Taunus ridge. And part of the Hardtwald belongs to Friedrichsdorf.

The Hollow Oak is the oldest tree in the Kirdorf district, estimated to be 500-700 years old. Its trunk circumference is approximately 5.50 m and its height is approximately 20 m. It is assumed that the "Hollow Oak" once belonged to the Kirdorf border district as a boundary tree of the Mark Hardt and, in its capacity as a boundary tree, was a "hole tree." Its nature conservation status was published in the Prussian Official Gazette on July 30, 1938. This tree was also used for emanation therapy. 1851 by Landgrave Ferdinand of Hesse-Homburg (1783-1866) in memory of the freedom flag donated by his brother Gustav (1781-1848) to the Seulberg riflemen in 1848. The "Seulberg Shooting" has a centuries-old tradition and is first documented in 1524. The annual freedom shooting dates back to this time. The dedication text is framed in an oval shape by two laurel garlands that are embossed and, like the writing, also gilded: "In memory of the flag consecration that took place on September 3rd, 1848, to which reverent gratitude is attached for the noble, sovereign Landgrave Gustav of Hesse and His Highness, who now rests in God." The climbing forest is a real attraction in Seulberg. Check the opening times/days before visiting. For the mountain goats among us, the annual pass is ideal.
