The Euschelspass is a 1567 m high pass in the Friborg Pre-Alps and connects Jaun in the Gruyère district with the Schwarzsee in the Sense district.

No matter what time of year

If the 4km loop around the lake is too short for you or you want to hike a little without all the hustle and bustle, here is an alternative. The lake tour can also be perfectly extended with the loop around Rohrmoos at the entrance to Schwarzsee. This addition is very rarely used by visitors. To do this, walk up the street next to the SchwarzseeStärn restaurant at the Gypsera car park, where you have a fantastic view of the lake. After 1.3km (from Gypsera), at Schlossisboden, near the house, take the dirt road to the right down, following the yellow hiking trail markings, towards the Burstera residential area. About half of this 400-meter dirt road is not suitable for strollers due to large stones. At the Burstera district, you come back onto a road and as soon as you get to the bottom, turn left to take the loop around Rohrmoos and then follow the hiking trail along the Sense back to the Gypsera car park. A very worthwhile additional loop with little hustle and bustle ;-) There is also food and drink directly on the route. The Jailhouse Rohr restaurant serves delicious burgers and more. The restaurant is only open in the winter season (from the beginning of December to the end of March), the rest of the year it is a rental space. At the health center there is the "fein & sein" where you are also well looked after and a beautiful terrace invites you to linger. Length of the additional loop Schlossisboden including Rohrmoos 4.5 km with 123 meters of elevation. Length of the additional loop Schlossisboden but without Rohrmoos 2.8 km with 111 meters of elevation. Length of the additional loop Rohrmoos but without the route and elevation above Schlossisboden and without the top view over Schwarzsee: 3.5 km with only 35 meters of elevation. This variant is completely suitable for strollers but the first 800 meters of hiking trail directly along the Sense to Rohrmoos also take you back to the Gypsera car park. Halfway through the walk around Rohrmoos there is also a playground, picnic table and public toilet 😊
