The small sacred monument we encounter on the Geschriebenstein, in the form of a summit cross, is—besides the view it offers—perhaps also the perfect place for a brief moment of reflection. A few years ago, Christiane Völkel commented on the wonderfully fitting sentence by the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch (who lived in the 14th century), "Everywhere one has heaven above oneself," as follows: "What is the use of prayer? This question moves me (...) I have found for myself the answer and the certainty that when I pray I am with the Lord, or rather, that when I pray he is often noticeably closer to me than usual. Thus, I retain the possibility of pouring out my heart to him (...) This intimacy with him makes me believe in him."

To the pilgrims lingering before this small sacred monument, with its special dedication as a "Cross of Peace"—what more could the world need in these times?—I would like to offer Pope Leo XIV's welcoming words as a small, personal encouragement to peace. Immediately after his election, before bestowing the traditional blessing "urbi et orbi" (to the city and the world) upon the waiting faithful, he addressed the people gathered in St. Peter's Square, as well as those participating via radio, television, and online media, with these moving words: + "Peace be with you all! Dear brothers and sisters, this is the first greeting of the Risen Christ, the Good Shepherd... I too hope that this greeting of peace will enter your hearts, reach your families, all people, wherever they are, all nations, the whole earth. Peace be with you!" The Forest Adventure Trail is located in the Lockenhaus Nature Park community, not far from the popular Margarethenwarte tourist destination. At 13 stations, you can learn (almost) everything there is to know about trees, the forest, and the wildlife around Geschriebenstein. Here, everyone can enjoy nature undisturbed and get to know the trees. The Forest Adventure Trail is easily accessible from the Margarethenwarte parking lot.
