The stele tells a story of pilgrimage and the place. Here, visitors are greeted by Saint Barbara, a reference to the mining history of the Hohen Peißenberg, and Mary, the patron saint of Bavaria, as they walk up the pilgrimage path to the Chapel of Grace and the Marian pilgrimage church. Praying hands and the scallop shell protruding from the stele then guide pilgrims, hikers, and visitors up to the actual pilgrimage church, where they can collect their stamp and recite their prayers.
