4月 28, 2022, Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
As if from 1000-and-1 Nights: It is modeled on Moscow's St. Basil's Cathedral and, as the only one with a non-Italian or non-classical architectural style, is accordingly conspicuous.

12月 24, 2020, Lomonosov Bridge
a run on the spb channels is great. just not at rush hour :-) The Lomonosov Bridge (Russian Мост Ломоносова Most Lomonossowa) in Saint Petersburg crosses the Fontanka River. With its towers, the movable bridge was typical of 18th century Petersburg. The original Chernyshev Bridge was 63 meters long and 14.7 meters wide. It was built from 1785 to 1787. In the 19th century, other movable bridges were converted into fixed bridges to facilitate traffic. The Chernyshev Bridge remained unchanged and retained its original appearance. The movable central section made of wood was replaced by a fixed metal bridge in 1912. It was not until 1948 that the bridge was renamed after the scholar Michail Wassiljewitsch Lomonossow (1711–1765). source By Alex 'Florstein' Fedorov, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=27875114 https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lomonossow-Br%C3%BCcke

12月 24, 2020, Peter and Paul Fortress
The Peter and Paul Fortress (Russian Петропавловская крепость / Petropawlowskaja krepost) is a fortress from the early 18th century, which is the origin and historical center of the city of Saint Petersburg. The complex, located on Rabbit Island in the Neva, today mainly houses exhibitions and museums and is both a tourist magnet and a place to relax for St. Petersburg residents. The fortress is a central part of the Historic Center of Saint Petersburg, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter-und-Paul-Festung By Alex 'Florstein' Fedorov, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=20632875

12月 23, 2020, Kazan Cathedral, St. Petersburg
Don't miss out on jogging on the nevski (ideally in the evening)! The Kazan Cathedral (Russian Казанский собор) is a large, Russian Orthodox sacred building on Nevsky Prospect in Saint Petersburg. It was built from 1801 to 1811 on the model of the Roman St. Peter's Basilica and is one of the most eye-catching buildings in Saint Petersburg. Its name goes back to an icon of the type of Our Lady of Kazan, which is venerated here. source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kasaner_Kathedrale_(Sankt_Petersburg) By A.Savin (Wikimedia Commons · WikiPhotoSpace) - Own work, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=21480571

12月 23, 2020, The Bronze Horseman – Statue of Peter the Great
The bronze equestrian statue of Tsar Peter the Great, erected in 1782 on the St. Petersburg Senate Square, is named with the popular name "The Bronze Horseman" (Russian Медный всадник, Medny wsadnik). The equestrian statue is one of the landmarks of Saint Petersburg. Tsar Peter I is depicted “on horseback” on a rearing horse with a snake trampled under its hooves. The scene is supposed to symbolize Peter's victory over the Swedes in the Battle of Poltava. source https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Der_eherne_Reiter By Alex (Florstein) Fedorov, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=43434230

12月 23, 2020, Palace Bridge (Dvortsoviy Most)
on of the must see and must run in SPB Palace Bridge (Russian: Дворцо́вый мост, Dvortsoviy Most), a road- and foot-traffic bascule bridge, spans the Neva River in Saint Petersburg between Palace Square and Vasilievsky Island. Like every other Neva bridge (except for Big Obukhovsky Bridge), it is drawn by night, making foot travel between various parts of the city virtually impossible. It was built by the French firm Société de Construction des Batignolles between 1912 and 1916. The total length of Palace Bridge is 260.1 metres, width is 27.8 metres. It is actually composed of five spans, the southernmost joining Palace Embankment between the Winter Palace and the Admiralty and leading to Palace Square. quelle https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palace_Bridge By Alex 'Florstein' Fedorov, CC BY-SA 4.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=61809102

12月 23, 2020, Peter the Great's Cabin
The cabin of Peter the Great (Russian: Domik Petra I or Domik Petra Pervogo or Domik Petra Velikogo) is a small wooden house which was the first St Petersburg "palace" of Tsar Peter the Great. The log cabin was constructed in three days in May 1703,[a] by soldiers of the Semyonovskiy Regiment.[1] At that time, the new St. Petersburg was described as "a heap of villages linked together, like some plantation in the West Indies".[2] The date of its construction is now considered to mark the foundation of the city. source https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cabin_of_Peter_the_Great picture wiki/Cabin_of_Peter_the_Great#/media/File:Domick_Petra_I.jpg

2月 21, 2020, Winter Palace
The center of the legendary Palace Square of Saint Petersburg is the Alexander Column. The 650-tonne and 47-meter-high Victory Column (triumph of the Russian army over Napoleon in 1812) is the largest monument in the world, which is stable without any further anchoring, only by its own weight. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palastplatz?oldformat=true

2月 20, 2020, Bell Tower of Peter and Paul Cathedral
On the striking, towering spire there is a cross with a 3 meter high golden angel - one of the most famous symbols of St. Petersburg! Incidentally, the Peter Paul Cathedral was the first cathedral in Russia with a carillon. Today there are supposedly at least an impressive 140 bells 🔔🔔🔔🔔🔔 ...

2月 20, 2020, Bell Tower of Peter and Paul Cathedral
A very special highlight: The Peter Paul Cathedral is the burial site of the Russian tsars! Almost all Russian tsars of the Romanov dynasty and their family members are buried in the cathedral and the adjacent chapel. Also Peter the Great, Catherine the Great and the last Tsar of Russia Nicholas II and his family.
