Easy to drive Please watch out for mosquitoes

Saint Anne is the mother of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the grandmother of Jesus Christ—not attested in the biblical texts. She is mentioned, however, in apocryphal (i.e., not included in the canon of the Bible) writings, for example, in the so-called "Protoevangelium of James." There is no historically verified information about Anne's life, but numerous traditional stories exist, summarized, for example, in the medieval "Legenda Aurea" by the Dominican monk Jacobus de Voragine. Among other things, she is the patron saint of St. Anne's Church in Düren (North Rhine-Westphalia), where a piece of her skullcap is kept as a relic. In the church calendar, Saint Anne's feast day—together with her husband Joachim—is July 26th.

A relatively easy tour, in my opinion, with no climbs and very good road conditions. However, mosquito repellent is definitely needed in summer. The towpath from the brickworks in Sonderhein to the Rhine bridge in Germersheim is not without its dangers, as the bike path runs directly along the Rhine and is not secured to the Rhine.

Beautifully located right on the lake with a terrace on the lakeshore. We only had coffee, but we'll be back for dinner. The menu looked tempting.

Good driving, with occasional oncoming traffic and sometimes loud traffic alongside, but a fast connection. Only the semicircular detours around intersections are a bit annoying when people occasionally override the right-of-way. I wish some four-wheelers would show a little more consideration.

Interesting exhibition in the Haus Leben am Strom

The St. Anna Chapel was built in 1985, with a building length of 9.93 m, a width of 5.70 m, a ridge height of 6.00 m; the tower has a height of 8.00 m. A bronze relief shows the image of "Anna-Selbdritt", i.e. an image of St. Anna, her daughter Mary and the baby Jesus. The image was designed by the sculptor Karl-Heinz Deutsch.
