The later court lord Johann Martin Schwytzer (1634–1713) from Lucerne, who lived at Buonas Castle from 1654 onwards, personally cared for the Buonas church with great devotion. This chapel has several donors to thank for its current form. The first of them, the Zug clergyman German Wetzstein (+ 1638), made his namesake the chapel's patron saint. The second donor and main benefactor of the chapel, the judge Johann Martin Schwytzer (1634-1713), dedicated the right of the two side altars he had commissioned to one of his namesakes, St. Martin. And he had his (alliance) coat of arms prominently displayed on both side altars. We find him himself as the donor figure in a kneeling position, with folded hands and a rosary on the main altarpiece.
