記念碑の右側の森に少しだけ踏み込むと、細長い古い壁が見つかります。それを右に沿って進むと、壁のすぐ右上の石造りの基礎や、さらには地下室も見つかります。ここで何が起こったのか考えると恐ろしいです。

The village of Neumugl belonged to the parish of Ottengrün and was closely connected to Bavaria, even though it lay on Bohemian territory. It was a typical border village, whose inhabitants often worked as foresters or in agriculture. After the Second World War, the German-speaking population was expelled. Due to its location directly on the "Iron Curtain" within a military restricted zone, the village was razed to the ground by the Czechoslovak authorities in the 1950s to prevent escape attempts and to ensure an unobstructed view.

Neumugl was a Bohemian village that was abandoned after World War II and became a deserted settlement (1946), the remains of which can be visited today by hikers. It was located in the Karlovy Vary region, in present-day Czechia, near the Bavarian border. The inhabitants lost their homeland and initially settled in Bügellohe in Bavaria, where the abandoned village can still be visited today.

The Bodenbach, which runs parallel to the Muglbach in the east for a few hundred meters, plunges down over a small waterfall and joins the Muglbach shortly before Hardeck.
