A 13th-century hall church, constructed of plastered quarry stone. A recessed choir and apse. A west transept tower with a hipped roof. Inside, a remarkable floating baptismal angel.

Construction period: 12th century, 14th century, 17th century, 19th century, 20th century, around 1150 (construction of a fortified church), around 1300 (choir extension), 1697, 1840 (sacristy), 1899 (extension of the hall), 1977 to 1980 (alteration of the choir) Architectural style: Romanesque, Baroque, Historicism, Modernist. Architect: Woldemar Kandler (1899). Condition: The Protestant St. John's Church in Großbuch has been renovated. Current use: Sacred. Access: The Protestant St. John's Church in Großbuch cannot be visited.

The church was built in 1715 on the site of the old church that had burned down in 1712 and was consecrated in 1716. In the last years of the GDR, the church fell rapidly into disrepair and was closed in 1980. The organ was no longer usable and the tower clock no longer worked. Repairs began in 1986. On February 28, 1990, the church tower collapsed onto the roof of the nave during Hurricane Wiebke. It wasn't until 2002 that the tower was rebuilt and re-tiled along with the nave roof. The mechanical tower clock was reconstructed, and the bells could be rung again.
