A very special place with a remarkably long history. "During the period between the late Bronze Age and the early Iron Age, a hillfort was built near the site as a refuge or defensive fort. This earthwork was approximately 400 meters in diameter. Later, the hillfort was used by Germanic and Slavic tribes." The site is perfect for a long break or a hearty picnic.

As early as 1235, a manor house existed in Ammelgoßwitz, which had been designated a knight's estate since 1573. The manor house burned down in 1890 and was rebuilt in 1910. It is also known as the Schlenker estate. The Ammelgoßwitz manor house is in dire need of renovation and, unlike the significantly altered outbuildings, is a listed building.

The town center is worth seeing, especially the gable of the town hall. The moated castle, around which the town was originally built, is also worth seeing.
