The cycle path is very pleasant to ride and leads directly along the lake or, when the water level is low, along the “cliff”.

Today, the castle complex houses a museum[3] as well as a hotel and restaurant. The museum's exhibition, "Behind Lock and Key"[1], primarily displays artifacts from the time when the castle served as a women's prison and a workhouse during the 18th and 19th centuries. Guided tours are also available using an audio guide system. From the castle, there is a panoramic view of Lake Edersee as far as the dam and into the Kellerwald forest. The Waldecker Bergbahn cable car connects the castle with the various attractions located below Lake Edersee.
