The Guillemin Bridge is a steel girder bridge over the Dender River in the municipality of Geraardsbergen. The bridge has a total length of 60 m and three spans: two side spans of 16 m each and a central span of 28 m. The vertical clearance under the bridge is 6 m. (Wikipedia)

The original 14th-century Gothic town hall with vertically stacked halls was ravaged several times, including in 1381, 1485, 1549 and the last quarter of the 16th century; restored in 1598-99. Renovated in 1752-53 in Louis XV style with a plastered facade, central bay accentuated by a wrought iron balcony on the main floor, ending in a triangular pediment; segmental arch windows. Sculpture by Zandbergen artist Antoon Torrekens, unveiled in September 2001 on the occasion of the official opening of the social housing complex built here at Brouwershof, on the site where the unparalleled Concordia beer was once brewed in copper brewing kettles. In 1624, the English noblewoman Anne Scudamore (1584-1634) founded the Hunnegem Priory. The Romanesque church thus came into the possession of the Benedictine Sisters of Arras (Arras). The priory was dissolved in 1794 as a result of the French Revolution. In 1816, the priory was re-established with the help of the Benedictine Sisters of Ghislenghien. The monastery complex and the Romanesque church remain important landmarks in Hunnegem. The murals by Bert-De l'Arbre in the church and the paxzaal are characteristic of the Neo-Gothic style. In early 2009, the last two Benedictine Sisters finally left the Hunnegem Priory.[1] Since 2018, the priory has housed several museums (Musea Hunnegem): Open-Air Museum De Priorij, Museum Hunnegem-Geraardsbergen (Huge) and Museum and Archive of Flemish Film (Mavf).[2]

Today, this coat of arms reminds us of the rich history of this place, and of the enduring value of connection, peace, and hospitality.

The single-nave Romanesque church, the largest in East Flanders, was the city's first mother parish. When St. Adrian's Abbey took over the role of spiritual center in 1096, Hunnegem remained a popular Marian pilgrimage site. After the religious war of 1566-85, a new devotional image was established. With the arrival of the Benedictine Sisters in 1624, the site grew into a thriving cloistered monastery. It later became a stronghold of resistance against French rule and Dutch rule. From the end of the 19th century, the sisters stood up against poverty and unemployment. Meanwhile, Hunnegem has grown into a reputable educational institution and a flagship of the Neo-Gothic style. With the development of a socio-cultural center, this pioneering role was resumed in 2014. It's a miracle that Hunnegem has maintained this pioneering role for a thousand years, without funding and on a voluntary basis. This single-nave church belongs to the hospital, located on the corner of Grotestraat and Gasthuisstraat. The facade is built in the Louis XV style. Karel De Pelsemaeker: "In this chapel, which features many Baroque and Rococo elements, there are also four statues by Gabriel Grupello. To the left and right of the altar are Mary and Joseph, each holding the baby Jesus. If you look from in front of the altar towards the portal and above, there are also statues by Grupello on both sides of the organ."
