The late Gothic building was formerly a pilgrimage church. The nave was built in the 15th century. The onion dome of the church tower seems atypical for a Gothic building. The explanation for this is a fire in 1777, which destroyed the old tower as a result of a lightning strike. This unfortunate event led to the construction of a new tower in the late Baroque style.
