🐴 Gut Immenhof: Where childhood dreams meet modern hospitality Near Eutin, idyllically situated in Malente on the shores of Lake Kellersee, you'll find the legendary Gut Immenhof (officially Gut Rothensande). Famous as the setting for the acclaimed Immenhof films of the 1950s, the estate has been transformed into an exclusive hotel resort that perfectly preserves its historic charm. Whether you're a fan of the classic films or simply seeking tranquility by the lake, the estate is a true gem in the Holstein Switzerland region.

I always find these well-maintained estates in Schleswig-Holstein very interesting.

On the mirror-like surface of the lake, the shadows of the trees danced, while on the opposite shore, the first lights of the houses twinkled like tiny stars. A rowboat, moored all day, rocked almost imperceptibly. In that moment, time seemed to stand still, and the Dieksee became the perfect place to let the day end in peaceful serenity.

Originally, Gut Immenhof, located at the entrance to Malente, was called "Gut Rothensande." It became widely known in the 1950s as the setting for the Immenhof film series. A few years ago, a complete renovation and conversion of the property into a hotel with equestrian facilities began. It opened in October 2021. As early as 1361, a farm called "Rodesand" at the Gremsmühle was first documented. A particular architectural influence was exerted by an entrepreneur who acquired Gut Rothensande in 1911 and had it rebuilt based on the model of old manor houses. Among other things, the gatehouse with its small bell tower and the manor house have been preserved from this period. The property changed hands several times during the 20th century. After the end of World War II, it was used as a children's home by the German Red Cross, and until the mid-1950s it served as a social-educational institute. In November 1953, the then owner of ARCA Filmproduktion permitted the filming of the Immenhof films. Between 1955 and 1957, a total of three feature-length films were shot about the sisters Dick and Dalli, who lived at Gut Immenhof: "Die Mädels vom Immenhof," "Hochzeit auf Immenhof," and "Ferien auf Immenhof." In addition to the estate, filming also took place at many other locations in Malente, such as the Maria Magdalenen Church, Hof Radlandsichten, and the train station. Since then, Malente and Holstein Switzerland have become a popular vacation destination for film fans and horse lovers alike. In recent years, Gut Rothensande has been carefully renovated and converted into a hotel complex with equestrian facilities. In addition to suites and apartments, the restored buildings also house stables, an indoor riding arena, and event spaces. The estate is located directly on the Kellersee, so guests on the Kellersee cruise can also use the new jetty at Gut Immenhof to hop on and off.🐎🐎
