If you walk the steep cobblestones through the "Porta Canale" gate to the Marutarum Park and want to continue the valley, then you should have sturdy shoes with you. The path is a bit hidden coming from the city BEFORE the bridge turn right and then after a few meters follow the path to the left. Take mosquito repellent with you from June.

Beautiful old clock tower "Porta Romana e torre dell'orologio". It serves as a city gate with a wall. Access to the old town with a nice bar "Arcanum Osteria - Caffetteria, Ristorante & Cocktail Bar". The tower is the eye-catcher and the first highlight in Barbano. The Porta Romana dates from the mid-15th century when the city extended beyond the castle walls. Two towers were added to the gate and aedicule and clocks added in 1863. Wonderful route to be done preferably on sunny days. The journey is quite easy and can be done with any type of clothing but will be more enjoyable if equipped with technical clothing and a pair of trekking shoes. If you want to complete the ring on foot up to the starting point, you will have covered about 9 km, so it is better to bring a snack and a suitable supply of water.

Unfortunately we were unable to go beyond the first kilometer as the path was completely invaded by too tall and stinging plants that did not allow us to see where our feet were resting which led us to a close encounter with a snake.
