On May 18, 2022, I drove along the Rhine here in beautiful weather, and the Rhine was a fantastic color. The view of Rheinfelden from the German side is beautiful.

Restaurant Feldschlösschen am Rhein, Rheinfelden Welcome to the Restaurant Feldschlösschen am Rhein. We offer Lebanese specialties. We are located in the beautiful old town of Rheinfelden. There is a hall with a view of the Rhine and a beautiful Rhine terrace. An oriental lounge and seats on the boulevard side are also available. History: On May 15, 1876, Mathias Wüthrich and Theophil Roniger applied to the Rheinfelden district office for permission to open a summer restaurant on the site of the new Feldschlösschen brewery. The restaurant was only to be open for the next few months, as the two entrepreneurs planned to set up a pub in a residential building that was still under construction (Villa Wüthrich, demolished around 1900) near the brewery. They wanted to open the summer restaurant on the square north of the house in a functional building, probably in an open wooden hall (arbor). As early as May 22, 1876, the government gave the green light for the summer restaurant.1 Its operators had to pay an annual business fee of 15 francs and a drinks tax of 75 francs. In addition, there was a one-off processing fee of 15 francs for the permit. This was limited to October 1, 1876. All business permits in the canton had to be renewed by this date anyway. Wüthrich and Roniger set the opening of the restaurant for Sunday, June 11. A newspaper advertisement promised musical entertainment, but only if the weather was good.2 But it was precisely the weather that may have spoiled the opening ceremony, because heavy rain had already started on the previous Thursday and continued almost without interruption for several days. The rainfall was such that on June 11 the Rhine rose dangerously and the following day the lower old town of Rheinfelden near the bridge was flooded.
