The Gran Serin Fortress, or Battery of the Great Serin, is a fortress built towards the end of the 19th century to defend the north-western border and is located along the Strait of Assietta near Colle dell'Assietta. The battery develops at a height of 2,600 meters in length and offers artillery positions, barracks and stables for a total of 850 soldiers and a powder magazine, protected by a long wall.
