This is what "MünsterWiki" writes: "St. Joseph's is a Catholic parish church in Kinderhaus. Architectural history: It was built in 1449 as a single-nave church for the leprosarium of the city of Münster, which had been established in 1326 and 1342, and is located within the parish of Our Lady of the Waters. In 1672, a tower was added and the chancel was extended. It had two altars, one dedicated to St. Elizabeth and the other to St. Gertrude. In 1953, the church was extended with the addition of the left aisle, the two transepts, and the chancel. The dimensions and spatial layout of the old church were preserved or adopted. The chancel was redesigned in 1971. The sacristy was added in an extension in 1993. History: The parish consisted of the surrounding farming communities, including Coerde and Sprakel. On March 7, 1342, a priest was appointed by Bishop Ludwig." The church was commissioned by Archbishop II of Hesse. In 1672, Bishop Christoph Bernhard von Galen designated St. Joseph as the patron saint of the church. On November 30, 1908, it became the parish church of the Catholic parish of St. Mary and St. Joseph. Furnishings: The tower and the keystone of the chancel vault are adorned with the coat of arms of Christoph Bernhard von Galen. Hanns Wienhausen designed the windows and tabernacle. Since August 2008, the church has featured Stations of the Cross windows designed by the artist Silke Rehberg. Will Horsten designed the altar and the cross above it. The organ was built by the Klais company.

🕊️🦢 The Rieselfelder Münster nature reserve is one of the most important bird sanctuaries in North Rhine-Westphalia and a popular destination for nature observers. Over 130 different bird species have already been recorded. Among the observed species are herons and common pochards, marsh harriers, short-eared owls, various wading birds (such as lapwings and greenshanks), bluethroats, and the rare little bittern. Numerous insects (dragonflies, butterflies) and amphibians also find a suitable habitat here. Heck cattle graze on the pastureland to maintain the open landscape.

🌿 Nature and Biodiversity The sewage fields are an outstanding biotope and serve as an important resting and moulting area for migratory birds. The area offers a diverse range of habitats, including shallow water zones, wet grasslands, pastures, and one of the largest contiguous reed beds in North Rhine-Westphalia.

We love this nature reserve 🤩! A visit by 🚲 or 🥾 is worthwhile any time of day or year!

This forest path from the forest school to the Kinderhaus estate is, firstly, a beautiful stretch through nature. 🌳 Secondly, because of the relatively soft, unpaved surface, I think it's particularly recommended for joggers who are prone to knee problems on asphalt. A short initial section from the forest school is a gravel path, but after turning right (northeast), it becomes a forest path with a higher proportion of soil. If desired, you can also leave the path and run longer on "real" forest soil. Running on the softer ground, however, is probably less suitable for setting speed records. The route is also lovely for hiking and cycling! 🙂

Unfortunately, I didn't see any alpacas on my walk past here today.
