St. Bartholomew's Chapel, also known as the Leper Chapel, lies just outside the city, on the right bank of the Emme River, diagonally opposite the leper house. In the Middle Ages, it served as a place of worship for lepers who had to live outside the city walls.

Right next to the wooden bridge is the ice rink... including a restaurant where you can refuel!

Nice, quiet place to relax

Beautiful walk running along the River Emme. This spot between Kirschberg and Burgdorf is exceptionally wild and beautiful, and the path is strewn with wide pebbly beaches, wooden bridges and woods.

The Emme sills reduce the flow speed of the Emme and thus the erosion of the bank structures. The water is dammed up a little above, so that you can swim from time to time. CAUTION: Rotors form directly below the thresholds, in which people keep drowning!

The former ailing chapel just before Burgdorf

Your next hiking route: From Burdorf via the individual Fluen in the direction of Hasle and then in the direction of Emme and Emmenweg back to Burgdorf. This route is super beautiful and includes almost everything. Dirt road, short steep climbs, longer flat sections, a river and lots of nature. Everything a hiker's heart desires.
