The old customs house (“Gammel Toldbod”) in Nyborg is located at Havnegade 2 and holds historical significance for the town. Today, the building houses the “Kiropraktorhuset Gammel Toldbod” (Chiropractic Practice Old Customs House). In earlier times, the building served as a customs house. This was because Nyborg was situated on an important waterway, the Great Belt, where ships had long been required to pay tolls to Denmark. The old customs house in Nyborg, like other similar buildings in Denmark, played a crucial role in monitoring shipping traffic to prevent the smuggling of goods. The building in its current form was constructed during a period when these customs controls were of paramount importance.

The Queen's Bastion (Dronningens Bastion) in Nyborg is home to several historic cannons. These cannons are an important part of the city's fortification history and symbolize its military past. More specifically, the bastion houses: Four 18-pound cannons (Model 1753): These were manufactured according to original drawings from the Armoury Museum. Two original 84-pound grenade cannons (System 1834): These have been preserved as originals. In addition to their historical significance, the cannons are still used today for special occasions. The Nyborg Fortress Foundation has established a "Saluteringslaug" (a kind of saluting masters' guild), which wears uniforms dating back to 1792 and fires cannons at events such as "Nyborg Shoots in the Summer" (Nyborg Skyder Sommeren Ind), a popular tradition.

The Crown Princess's Bastion (Danish: "Kronprinsens Bastion") in Nyborg was one of the three large bastions built in the 1660s as part of the city's fortifications. It is still relatively well preserved today and is an important part of Nyborg's historic ramparts. The bastion was strategically important and, among other things, protected the city's Land Gate. It separated the northern and eastern moats, where a three-meter difference in water level was used to power the castle mill. In the summer, the Crown Princess's Bastion serves as a venue for the open-air theater "Nyborg Voldspil." It is believed that the Crown Princess's Bastion and the also preserved "Dronningens Bastion" (Queen's Bastion) were of a similar size to the no longer preserved "Kongens Bastion" (King's Bastion).
