The church is 46 meters high, 30 meters long and 23 meters wide. It is cross-shaped, with one main dome and four small towers topped with smaller domes. The entrance to the church leads through a fourteen-meter staircase. On all sides, the building is decorated with rows of Corinthian pilasters and gilded reliefs with floral motifs. The windows of the church are round or semicircular (at the level of the main dome). The church iconostasis was made in 1754–1761 by Antropov and Wyszniakow. The temple was built on the initiative of Empress Elizabeth in 1744–1753 according to the design of Bartolomeo Rastrelli on the site of the former Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. According to legend, this hill was passed by St. Andrew and pointed them out as a place where, thanks to God, a city and a wonderful temple will be created. The construction works were managed by Iwan Miczurin, the rococo interior decorations were made by O. Antropow, H. Lewicki, I. Wyszniakow and P. Borispolec according to Rastrelli's ideas. Independence Square (Ukrainian: Майдан Незалежності, trb. In front of the Golden Gate stands the monument to Yaroslav the Wise

The Golden Gate of Kiev (Ukrainian Золоті ворота Soloti worota) is a historic [1] fortified city gate in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. The gate was built on the orders of the Kiev Grand Duke Yaroslav the Wise from 1017 to 1024. The Golden Gate of Constantinople served as a pattern. In 1240 it was damaged by the Mongol troops of Batu Khan. The gate remained the main entrance to the city until the 18th century and is often used for ceremonial purposes. In 1832 the remains of the gate were reconstructed. Further reconstruction work was carried out in the 1970s, when the new, reconstructed gate was built on the remains of the gate. The new gate, which houses a museum, opened in 1982 to mark the 1,500th anniversary of Kiev.

Nice view of Kiev. From here you can take a very romantic walk past the monument to Vladimir to Andreevsky descent. Evenings are most beautiful. Street musicians usually perform as well.
