A fantastic cycling and hiking trail leads along this route, amidst beautiful nature and past the half-timbered houses of the Altes Land region with their traditional gateways. Highly recommended and interesting at the same time.

The Este Barrage at Neuenfelde is an important flood protection structure at the mouth of the Este River where it flows into the Elbe near Hamburg-Neuenfelde. It protects the second line of dikes and regulates the water level. It comprises an inner and an outer barrage. A bascule bridge for road traffic is located here, which is occasionally closed for maintenance work, although pedestrians and cyclists can often cross. It protects against storm surges and high inflows of the Este by preventing flooding and regulating the water level. It is situated on the Elbe near the Airbus site and the former Sietas shipyard. The outer barrage is operated by the city of Hamburg, while the inner barrage belongs to the district of the city of Stade and protects the areas behind it as far as Buxtehude. A bascule bridge spans the structure and can be closed to road traffic.

A hike along the Este dike is highly recommended: a beautiful circular walk. Spring or autumn are best. In the height of summer, there's no shade. You'll be treated to various views of the surrounding nature, the Este River, and the thatched-roof houses. There are plenty of benches for taking a short break. The lock house is also very interesting and worth a visit 👍🏼.

The Neuenfelde flood barrier is located here, offering a fantastic view of Blankenese, the Elbe River, and the surrounding countryside 💚. A snack bar and benches are available here during the summer months.

A visit to Buxtehude's old town is always beautiful and interesting at the same time 👍🏼.

Residents of Jork will have an alternative to the current supermarket offerings: a weekly market with fresh, regional produce. The weekly market takes place every Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Altländer market square in the center of Jork.

The town hall in the historic center of Jork is a three-story, historic timber-framed building constructed in the mid-17th century by Count Matthäus von Haren. The town is also known as the Altes Land region and has a very eventful history. The town hall boasts a beautiful entrance portal adorned with coats of arms. In front of it is a charming little garden with parkland, benches, lanterns, and an anchor monument. The building underwent extensive restoration in the 1970s and has been beautifully restored. It stretches from the outskirts of Hamburg for over 30 km south of the Elbe to the Hanseatic city of Stade. The area encompasses the entire municipality of Jork, the collective municipality of Lühe, and the Neu Wulmstorf district of Rübke in Lower Saxony, as well as the Hamburg districts of Neuenfelde, C.ranz, and Francop. The Elbe's tributaries—the Schwinge, the Lühe, and the Este—divide the Altes Land into three sections: the first, second, and third mile from west to east.
