A small mountain pass between the cantons of Obwalden, from Giswil and Lucerne to Sörenberg. The route is narrow on the Obwalden side and in places only single-track, stretching with a very constant gradient of 8 to 12% over meadow slopes and forest up to the highest point. From the Lucerne side, starting at the Brienz Rothorn cable car valley station, it is also only two-track. The highest point is somewhat unspectacular, situated in the sparse mountain forest at the foot of a rock face; the actual pass summit is somewhat lower on the Lucerne side, where there is also a small kiosk.

There is also a toilet at the valley station in the car park - suitable for both filling up water bottles and for its actual purpose.

Cycling through, you can’t miss the spectacular view of the Oltschibach Waterfall, a mesmerizing natural spectacle, where water cascades down a rugged cliff, with lush vegetation as a backdrop. As you pass through the Hasli Valley, the mighty falls plunge over 100 meters, creating a mist that fills the air with refreshing coolness.

Sörenberg, a village in the Swiss Alps, is located in the southern part of the canton of Lucerne and belongs to the municipality of Flühli in the Entlebuch region, near the upper end of the Waldemme valley. Located at 1,165 meters above sea level, Sörenberg is a popular winter sports and hiking area for the whole family. Sörenberg offers numerous highlights for nature lovers and families, especially in winter. The B241 bus line runs from here every hour to the neighboring villages.

The rock was obviously soft when it was deformed into waves. Deposition and folding must therefore have occurred quickly and in quick succession before the material became hard and brittle.
