Oldest building in Solothurn dating back to 1408.

Laurent Perroud created the Fountain of Justice in 1561, modeled on the Bernese figure, which was 18 years older. The plump, confident female figure, dressed in a yellowish, lightly skirted woman's garment, bears the symbols of justice: the executioner's sword and scales. Her blindfolded eyes show no human considerations. At her feet lie the half-length figures of the Pope, Emperor, Mayor, and Sultan, symbols of spiritual and secular power.

The St. George Fountain, dating from 1548, originally stood on Gurzelngasse and was moved to the quieter Kornmarkt (now Börsenplatz) in 1777. The fountain trough is hewn from a single piece of Jura limestone. Above the baluster-like, twisted and fluted column on the canopy capital, with its angels blowing shawms behind mythical creatures, stands the fountain figure by Laurent Perroud from Le Landeron. It depicts St. George in armor, with the dragon, and the king's daughter.

The crowning fountain figure depicts the bearded Samson standing on the back of the lion and overpowering it by opening its jaws.

Below the large tower clock, you can see the copper-clad canopy. The group of automatons, consisting of a knight, a king, and death, is surrounded above by a blue starry sky with a moon, and below by the Solothurn coat of arms with the imperial eagle and the dates 1545 (built) and 1883 (renovated).

Krummturm Solothurn The Krummturm is a medieval defensive tower in the city of Solothurn. The exact start of construction is not known, but the tower was completed in 1462/63. Although the name suggests a crooked building, this is not correct. Only the roof appears crooked from most sides. The strange roof shape is the result of the irregular pentagon of the tower's floor plan. On the lowest floor there is a 10-meter-deep dungeon in which criminals were once imprisoned. If historical walls could speak, they would have a lot to tell. This includes the Krummturm legend - a tragic love story between the carpenter and the builder's daughter. Solothurn Old Hospital – A House with History Whether as a hospital, an orphanage, or a hostel for artisans: hospitality has remained a central characteristic of Solothurn's Old Hospital since its first mention in the 14th century. With the construction of the new Bürgerspital (Citizens' Hospital) in 1930, the Old Hospital lost its original function. As a result, the late 18th-century building complex gradually fell into disrepair and was even threatened with demolition in the early 1970s. It is thanks to the initiative of far-sighted private individuals that the Old Hospital was renovated by the municipality of Solothurn in the 1980s and gradually converted to its current use as a cultural and conference center with an adjoining restaurant and hotel.
