Notre-Dame Cathedral, Lausanne The cathedral was not consecrated until 1275 by Emperor Rudolf of Habsburg and Pope Gregory X. Then Jean Cotereel, the third master builder, took over the building site and built the western part, which he equipped with a porch and two towers, one of which carries the bells.
